One of the great things about working in PR is that no two days are the same. That was certainly the case when my client Llanerch Vineyard received a royal visit from Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall. It’s certainly been a tough year for the hospitality industry, but Llanerch has come out stronger than ever with a new restaurant opening and a royal visit to kick start vine planting at its new vineyard site.
One thing is clear, The Duchess runs a tight ship. Everyone in her team from her private secretary to the Clarence House communications team and the photographer that shadows her are ultra efficient, professional and very good at their jobs. They were also really lovely people – much like The Duchess herself. I was amazed by her effortless charm and warmth, and how generous she was with her time. It can’t be an easy job, meeting new face after new face, and taking a genuine interest in what they do, but she does it with ease.
After a tour and general chitchat, The Duchess finally got her hands on a glass of sparkling Cariad wine in the sunshine and helped to plant a new vine at Llanerch’s latest vineyard location as it continues to expand across its grounds in Hensol. She wished the vine the best of luck, saying it would need it after being planted by her! I’ll keep you posted on the royal vine’s progress…
